1) Shipping Origin
All products are shipped from Japan.
2) Order Processing Time (Handling Time)
Orders are typically processed and dispatched within 1–5 business days after payment is confirmed (excluding weekends and Japanese public holidays).
3) Shipping Methods
- Japan Post EMS (tracked, expedited)
- DHL Express (tracked, express)
Available shipping methods may vary by destination and local service conditions. If your selected carrier is unavailable for your address, we may contact you to confirm an alternative option.
4) Delivery Time Estimates
Delivery times are estimates and may vary depending on destination, weather conditions, peak seasons, and customs processing.
- Japan Post EMS: approximately 4–10 business days after dispatch
- DHL Express: approximately 2–9 business days after dispatch
5) Address Requirements
- Please ensure your shipping address is complete and accurate.
- DHL Express may not deliver to P.O. Boxes. A physical address may be required.
6) Duties, Taxes & Customs Fees
Import duties, VAT/sales tax, customs fees, and carrier processing or handling fees are not included in the item price or shipping cost. Any such charges are determined by the destination country and the carrier and are the customer’s responsibility.
We are unable to estimate or control customs charges. Please contact your local customs office for details regarding import regulations in your country.
United States – Important Notice
Products shipped from Japan to the United States may be subject to U.S. import duties and carrier processing fees upon arrival, regardless of order value. Any such charges are determined by U.S. Customs and the carrier and are not collected by Japan Knife Shop.
7) United Kingdom – Age Verification Requirement
For deliveries to the United Kingdom, the carrier may require age verification at the time of delivery. The recipient may be asked to present valid proof of age or identity to the delivery handler. If age verification cannot be completed, delivery may be refused or returned, and additional shipping charges may apply.
8) Shipping Restrictions & Compliance
- Some products or destinations may be restricted by local regulations or carrier policies.
- We cannot mark orders as “gift” or declare an incorrect value, as this is prohibited by international regulations.
9) Insurance, Loss & Damage
- All shipments include tracking.
- Insurance coverage may be included depending on the carrier and service selected.
- Please contact us promptly in the event of loss or damage so we can assist with the carrier’s investigation process.
- Customs authorities may open and inspect packages; delays or damage caused by customs inspections are outside our control.
10) Delays Outside Our Control
Delivery may be delayed due to customs processing, severe weather, transportation disruptions, or other circumstances beyond our control. We appreciate your understanding in such cases.
11) Shipping Cost Calculation
Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on destination and available shipping methods. Add items to your cart, enter your delivery address, and the total shipping cost will be displayed before payment.
